Land at 6pm. Grab your rental car and settle in near the airport. Rest up — tomorrow is a big day.

July 1 · Day 2 🎂 21st Birthday at the Nürburgring
1.5 hr drive from Frankfurt

What better way to turn 21 than lapping the most famous racetrack on Earth? Rent a track car and rip the Nordschleife. Celebrate with dinner in the village.

Book rental laps in advance through RSRNurburg, Rent4Ring, or Ringfreaks. Budget €200–400/lap depending on the car. Confirm tourist drive schedule for this date — summer usually has weekday sessions. The birthday person drives; everyone else spectates or does a Ring Taxi ride-along with a pro.

July 2 · Day 3 Nuremberg — Trials & Old Town
3.5 hr drive from Nürburg

Afternoon at the Nuremberg Trials courtroom — the actual room where Nazi leaders faced justice. Evening strolling the stunning medieval old town.

The actual courtroom where the trials happened. Closed Tuesdays — this Friday works. Plan 2 hours. Heavy subject — gauge the 9-year-old's readiness, though exhibits are educational not graphic.

July 3 · Day 4 Nazi Rally Grounds → Munich
1.5 hr drive to Munich (afternoon)

Morning at the massive Nazi Party Rally Grounds and Documentation Center. Afternoon drive to Munich, then free admission at BMW Welt.

Under renovation through 2026, but partial exhibits are open. The sheer scale of the grounds outside is striking even with construction.

July 4 · Day 5 Dachau Memorial

A sobering and essential morning at Dachau. Afternoon to decompress — explore Marienplatz, grab beer and pretzels at a beer garden.

Free entry. Get there at opening (9am) to avoid crowds. Audio guide recommended. This will be emotional — talk with your group (especially the 9-year-old) about what they'll see beforehand.

July 5 · Day 6 Neuschwanstein Castle
2 hr day trip from Munich (round trip)

Fairy-tale castle day trip into the Bavarian Alps. The 9-year-old's highlight of the trip.

Book timed tickets online well in advance — they sell out. Take the bus up, walk down. Don't skip the Marienbrücke bridge viewpoint. Budget a full day with driving.

July 6 · Day 7 Eagle's Nest — Berchtesgaden
2 hr day trip from Munich (round trip)

Hitler's mountain retreat at 6,000 feet with jaw-dropping Alpine views. A WWII site that doubles as one of the most scenic spots in Germany.

Take the special bus up the mountain road, then a brass elevator through the rock. Restaurant at top with incredible views. Wear good shoes — trails can be slippery.

July 7 · Day 8 Stuttgart — Porsche & Mercedes Museums
2.5 hr drive from Munich

Two of the best automotive museums in the world, both in one city. This is the car-lover day.

Go here first — it's the bigger museum. Self-guided audio tour is excellent. Closed Mondays. Allow 2.5 hours.

July 8 · Day 9 Rothenburg → Frankfurt
1.5 hr to Rothenburg · 2 hr to Frankfurt

Stop in Germany's most photogenic medieval town on the drive back. Walk the walls, grab a Schneeball pastry, let the kid explore. Then continue to Frankfurt for your last night.
